Custom Text

Custom Text User Guide

1. Introduction to Custom Text

The Custom Text section allows you to modify the default text used within the internal system and the text that appears on your public reservation pages. This enables you to tailor the language to your specific needs or provide translations.

2. Managing Custom Text Sets

2.1. Text Set List

The initial screen displays a list of all custom text sets that have been created.

2.2. Editing a Text Set

Click on the title of an existing text set to access and edit its content.

2.3. Adding a New Text Set

Click the “Add Custom Text Set” button to create a new set of custom text. The system will then prompt you to choose whether to add text for the public reservation page or for the internal system. Click “Continue” after your selection.

3. Reservation Page Text

This section allows you to customize the text displayed on your public reservation pages.

3.1. Customization Options

  • You can choose to preload translations from French, Portuguese, or Spanish to get a starting point.
  • Alternatively, you can enter your own custom text. This can be used for:
    • Providing language translations for all the standard text elements in ReservationKey.
    • Customizing the default English text to better suit your specific business. For example, if you rent out boats, you can replace all instances of “rooms” with “boats”.
    • Modifying many of the error messages that appear on the public reservation pages.

3.2. Applying Your Custom Text

Important: Once you have saved your custom text set for the reservation page, you must select it as the active text in the Reservation Page Settings (replace # with the actual link to that section). This action will replace the default text on your public reservation pages with the text you have customized.

4. Internal System Text

This section allows you to modify the default text used within the internal ReservationKey system.

4.1. Customization Options

  • Use this to change default terminology to better reflect your business. For instance, if you manage campsites, you might want to change the word “rooms” to “campsites” throughout the internal system.
  • This is also useful for translating the default English text to your preferred language. You can either manually enter the translations or load a language (such as Spanish) from the provided dropdown menu as a starting point.

4.2. Text Sections

The internal system text is organized by different sections. Be sure to select the specific system location you want to customize. Each main area of the system will have its own set of text that can be edited.

What is custom text?

Custom text allows you to replace any of the default wording on the reservation pages to meet your needs. For example, if you are renting boats, you could change all references to rooms to boats.

Why would I need more than one custom text set?

You might rent conodos and boats. You could have one reservation page for each, and a matching set of text for each (one text refers to boats, and one custom text set refers to condos).

How can I use this to create reservation pages in different languages?

Create a custom text set for each language you wish to show your reservation page in. Then create separate reservation pages for each language. Finally, link each language page to the appropriate custom text language.
